Junior Water Resources Engineers

TREK Geotechnical Inc. is seeking Junior Water Resources Engineers. Are you a motivated and entrepreneurial individual who wants to be challenged and contribute to building a growing Water Resources team? As a core member of the engineering and project leadership team you will be responsible for managing small to large scale projects (based on capabilities) from concept to construction, reporting directly to the manager of Water Resources Engineering. Individuals who have a strong technical foundation in prairie hydrology, open-channel hydraulics and are enthusiastic about taking a leadership role in their careers will be well suited to meet the expectations of this position.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering required. Graduate degree and successful Project Management experience considered an asset.
  • Currently registered (or eligible to become registered) as an Engineering Intern in Manitoba.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report and proposal writing.
  • Experience with hydrotechnical modelling skills in hydrologic and 1D / 2D hydraulic software considered essential (HEC, MIKE, SWMM, others).
  • Data management and communication skills through demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS software (ArcGIS) considered an asset
  • Valid drivers' license required
  • Willingness to work overtime and outside the City of Winnipeg

Job Responsibilities:

  • Technical engineering and project leadership, under the supervision of senior engineers, including hydrologic assessment, hydraulic modelling, surface drainage design, erosion and sedimentation control, stormwater management, wind and wave analysis, dam breach modelling, flood mapping, flood management and protection design.
  • Conduct technical analysis; conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs; report and proposal writing
  • Collection and processing of survey and GIS data
  • Project management for small to large scale projects including all phases from client management, site investigation, engineering analysis and design, preparation of reports, preparation of construction drawings, specifications and contract administration/construction inspection
  • Manage client relationships
  • Manage responses to clients’ Request For Proposal
  • Assist management in business development opportunities

Student and Intern Opportunities

We employ students for summer or short-term positions through the University of Manitoba and Red River College engineering co-op programs, so keep an eye out for job postings from TREK through the program websites. We also hire engineering interns and technicians for seasonal and permanent positions throughout the year, most often in the summer months. We typically make hiring decisions for summer employment by March, with most applications received between November and January.
